The McMaster Exchange Program
The McMaster Exchange Program is facilitated by International Student Services. The Faculty of Humanities works in conjunction with I.S.S. to facilitate the exchange program.
McMaster offers different formal exchange programs for students at partner institutions all over the world. Exchange students register and pay regular fees and tuition to McMaster, but attend courses at their host school. Students can study abroad for one term or the full year.
Students must meet the following criteria:
- must be entering level III of an Honours or Combined Honours program
- minimum cumulative GPA of 7.0
- students must complete their final year at McMaster following the term or year abroad
Some partnerships with institutions in France* and Germany require high proficiency in the host country’s language. To receive a language assessment, please contact:
*Please note that in France there is one program taught in English, the SELF program at Lyon 3. This program does not require a language assessment.
How to Apply
Step 1: Attend an Information Session.
International Student Services hosts mandatory information sessions. Click here to learn more and register for upcoming sessions via OscarPlus.
Step 2: Meet with the Academic Advisor for Study Abroad
After attending an information session, meet with the academic advisor to discuss your program requirements, eligibility, and course options. This is a preliminary meeting, so specific course selections are not required at this point. The goal of this meeting is to discuss your overall requirements and how best to meet them while abroad.
The Academic Advisor for Study Abroad is Christine Chauvin. Click here for information on current advising hours.
Step 3: Apply.
The deadline to apply for MacAbroad is normally on or around January 20 of each year. Programs through an OUI agreement have an earlier deadline.
If you have questions about the application process, please contact International Student Services at email@example.com.
For questions relating to your academics and transfer credit, please contact the Academic Advisor for Study Abroad, Christine Chauvin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
